An MSDS describes material and handling information; it is not, by itself, proof that a finished product satisfies every cosmetics, consumer-product, labeling, or customs requirement. Confirm the importer of record, tariff classification with the relevant customs adviser, country-of-origin marking, language requirements, and any destination-specific packaging rules before production.

Begin with a signed approval sample that records dimensions, curvature, finish, color references, included components, packaging, and application instructions. Review the material and adhesive system separately because the nail tip and adhesive can present different exposure and performance questions. Ask for current technical documents tied to the supplied item, then use an independent laboratory or qualified market-compliance adviser when the destination or retailer requires it. Testing should reflect the final commercial configuration, including printed packaging and accessories. Do not treat a factory sample, an MSDS, or a general statement such as non-toxic as a substitute for project-specific assessment.

Define the packed-unit specification before quotation: inner tray or insert, protective film, carton strength, unit count, sealing method, and pallet configuration. Conduct a documented drop, compression, or transit assessment appropriate to the parcel and freight route, especially when tips may deform or decorated surfaces may rub. Use a carton count and barcode reconciliation process so shortages are detected before dispatch. Photographs of packed cartons, carton dimensions, gross weight, and shipping marks should be approved before loading. Packaging should protect shape and finish without creating excess dimensional weight that materially increases landed cost.

Capacity claims should be converted into a production plan rather than accepted as a daily-output figure. Ask how many lines, workers, molds or size systems, decoration processes, and packing stations are assigned to the order, then compare that plan with the required quantity and ship date. Split approval into design sample, pre-production sample, first-article inspection, in-process checks, and final quantity inspection. Include tolerance rules and a corrective-action process in the purchase agreement. A supplier may have substantial theoretical capacity while a custom design remains constrained by materials, artwork approval, curing, packaging, or peak-season scheduling.

The evidence depends on the product configuration, claims, accessories, packaging, and intended sales channel. Build a document matrix covering material declarations, REACH-related information where applicable, RoHS relevance, MSDS files for chemical components, labeling, country of origin, packaging obligations, and retailer-specific testing. For the EU, determine whether the item or any adhesive is subject to particular chemical, consumer-product, or labeling obligations; for the US, check federal, state, and retailer requirements rather than assuming one national document is sufficient. Ask for document issue dates, product references, test methods, and issuing organizations, and have a local compliance specialist validate applicability.

Use a master reference set approved in writing, with numbered color chips or physical samples, measured nail dimensions, shape profiles, gloss level, artwork placement, and acceptable tolerances. Digital screen colors are not reliable production standards because displays and lighting differ. Require the factory to identify lot or batch controls for base materials, pigments, coatings, and printed components. Inspect representative cartons from the finished order and record defects by type, size, shade, surface, and quantity. Establish an acceptance standard before production, including what counts as a critical, major, or minor defect; otherwise, commercial disputes become subjective after arrival.
