Salon Press On Nails Application Tips
1. Prep is everything
Clean and sanitize the natural nails and hands. Remove old polish, push back cuticles gently and lightly buff the nail plate to remove shine. Wipe nails with alcohol or an oil-free cleanser so glue bonds strongly.
2. Get the right size
Always size each nail before applying. Use the press-on nail that fits the widest part of the natural nail without overlapping the skin. A well-fitted press-on prevents lifting and increases comfort.
3. Choose adhesive method
For salon clients, professional nail glue gives the longest hold. Use glue sparingly at the base and center, press and hold for 10-15 seconds. For short-term wear, adhesive tabs are cleaner and easy to remove. Offer both options to clients based on wear time.
4. Application technique
Align the press-on at the cuticle line, then press from base to tip to avoid air pockets. Apply steady pressure for at least 30 seconds and finish with a gentle file to blend the free edge if needed.
5. Finishing touches
Seal edges with a thin layer of UV top coat to add shine and durability. Cure under UV/LED lamp if using gel top coat. Advise clients to avoid heavy water exposure for the first hour.
6. Safe removal and aftercare
Soak in warm, soapy water or acetone-based remover if glue is strong. Do not force nails off; gently lift sides after softening. Moisturize cuticles and natural nails after removal to keep nails healthy.
